CHRISTMAS EVE AT THE NUTCRACKER CLUB, WADDELL THEATER, NOVA LOUDOUN Dec. 3, 4, & 10,2011
Annual Recital June 23 & 24, 2012
WE FOLLOW FAIRFAX COUNTY IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER CLOSINGS.
| Schedule of Classes for Children - Youth | ||
|
Classes are recommended based on a faculty evaluation of a child's gross motor development, emotional maturity, attention span, muscle tone and coordination. As in any learning situation, regular attendance is important. We assume when enrolling parents and students understand that commitment. All classes are sequential, building lesson to lesson. Too many absences will not only frustrate the child, but also impede the progress of the entire class. The early years address control over the larger superficial muscle groups, but as training continues, and dancers mature, they tune in to the inner musculature. This allows for an ever increasing refinement in execution. The dancer’s entire being is integrated with breath, focus and intent of motion clearly defined. Ultimately the art is in the detail, the nuance, the emotion. |

|
To begin to master Intermediate level skills, twice a week class is required. Students may need to study at this level for more than one year. After completing Ballet IV, students are evaluated and advised as to what their best track would be. Though all students certainly benefit from the mental and physical challenges, discipline, poise, and grace of basic ballet training, at this stage, physical structure plays a larger role in whether a student can handle more advanced technique. Posture, alignment, hip rotation, stretch of the foot, muscle tone, flexibility and musicality, in addition to demonstrating a serious commitment, are all factors necessary for success at the higher levels. |
